SULFONATE-TERMINATED POLYIMIDES AND POLYAMIC ACIDS AND METHOD FOR THEIR PREPARATION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Sulfonate-terminated polyimides and polyamic acids are prepared by the reaction of a dianhydride such as bisphenol A dianhydride, a diamine such as m-phenylene- diamine or bis(4-aminophenyl)methane, and an amino sulfonic acid such as p- or m-aminobenzenesulfonic acid or 2-amino- ethanesulfonic acid. The products may be used as compati- bilizing agents for blends of aromatic polymers with iono- meric elastomers.
