ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and device for counterbalancing a force impinging laterally on an arm comprising one or more arm segments, each segment being capable of 360° rotation about a pivot axis normal to the segment and forming a fulcrum, comprising duplicating the cosine of pivotal movement of the arm on one side of its fulcrum with a corresponding crank element on the opposite side of its fulcrum, a constant force being applied to the crank element through a force multiplier.
