ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An optical information record member is provided which comprises a substrate, a first layer formed on the substrate made of a material having high absorptance of an incident light of a predetermined wavelength in which a part of the incident light is converted to heat, and a second layer formed on the first layer made of a material in which an optical characteristic for a light having a predetermined wavelength is changed by irradiation of the incident light together with the heat generated in the first layer, wherein an information signal can be recorded on the second layer by the change of the optical character- istic of the second layer.
