ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE PORTABLE SEAT An orthopedic seat comprises three portions that are linked together to permit the seat to be folded into a compact package for carrying. The linkage permits the forward portion of the seat to be detached so as to adapt the seat for use with chairs having a small back to front dimension. Each portion comprises an underlaying support layer, a foam layer, and an enveloping upholstery layer, the upholstering material serving at least in part to form the linkage between the portions. The portions are shaped, preferably in the support layer, to provide a central front to back ridge, and also to provide a notch for the coccyx.
