ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a process for producing a thermoplastic resin by coagulating a thermoplastic resin latex prepared by emulsion polymerization comprising coagulating the latex in a range of temperatures lower than the solidifying point of the thermoplastic resin, adding an alkaline substance to the thus obtained slurry at temperatures lower than said solidifying point to adjust the pH 0.1 or more higher than at the time of the coagulation and to a pH of 7.0 or less, and then raising the temperature of said slurry to solidify the coagulated particles.
