ABSTRACT A facsimile scanner of graphic copy fed along a supporting table includes a lens system for projecting an image of the record on a plane. Adjacent the plane is a moving masking belt having a crosswise slit, and a photobar with a long narrow, photoresponsive surface at right angles to the mask slit. The mask slit and photoresponsive surface together define suc- cessive elemental image areas progressing along the surface stimulating the photobar to generate a signal series which, when amplified and transmitted reproduce the original recorder in a recorder.
