ABSTRACT The invention relates to a device for the cyclic rearrangement of a pile of substantially rectangular sheets, e.g. a pile of photographic prints. It has a first and a second frame part which may be reciprocated relative to one another. Upon reciprocation of the frame parts an individual sheet is removed from one end of the pile and added to the other end of the pile again. For this purpose, there are provided (a) separating elements for separating the individual sheet from the pile, (b) feeding elements for feeding sheets to the separating elements, (c) a first retainer for holding the individual sheet in the first frame part and a second retainer for holding the remainder of the pile in the second frame part, and (d) guide elements for guiding the separated individual sheet for the purpose of returning it to the other end of the remainder of the pile. The feeding elements on the first frame part include a contact face engaging under spring bias a transverse edge of the pile at the end from which a sheet is to be separated. Upon withdrawal of the frame parts, a force is exerted by the pile to the contact face which yields against the spring bias in direction transverse to the reciprocation direction.
