ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An artificial joint socket comprises a cup and a gener- ally hollow-cylindrical part which is open at its free end and whose axis passes through the center of the sphere defined by the spherical cap-shaped interior surface of the cup. The cup com- prises preferably an interior part from plastics and an exterior part, whereby the latter and the anchoring part are made from the same metal, e.g. titanium or one of its alloys. The interior part of the cup is rigidly connected preferably with interlocking means to the exterior part of the cup. The anchoring part allows for a stable, cement-free anchoring of the artificial joint socket In a bone with minimum loss of bone material.
