A plug and socket assembly for the extension of a guidewire 1 with an extension wire 2. The plug 5 is formed at the distal end 6 of the extension wire 2 and the socket 3 is formed at the proximal end 4 of the guidewire 1. Inside the socket 3 is a female conical screw thread 7 and outside the plug 5 is a conical male screw thread 8. Assembly is obtained by mere insertion and screwing of conical male screw thread 8 into conical female screw thread 7.

La fiche (5) est à l'extrémité distale (6) du fil de rallonge (2), et la douille (3) à l'extrémité proximale du fil-guide (1). L'intérieur de la douille (3) renferme des filets de vis femelle conique (7), tandis que l'extérieur de la fiche (5) comporte des filets de vis mâle conique (8). Pour réaliser l'assemblage, il suffit d'insérer et de visser la vis filetée mâle (8) dans la douille filetée femelle (7).
