A printer system comprises a thermal printer, an ink transfer unit and a thermal printing unit. The ink transfer unit and the thermal printing unit can be selectively mounted in the thermal printer. The ink transfer unit has an ink reservoir in which liquid ink is stored. The thermal printing unit has an ink ribbon. When neither the ink transfer unit nor the thermal printing unit is mounted on the thermal printer, an image can be formed on a thermal recording sheet only by the thermal printer. When the ink transfer unit is mounted on the thermal printer, ink stored in the ink reservoir is transferred onto a recording sheet to form an image thereon. When the thermal printing unit is mounted on the thermal printer, ink contained in the ink ribbon is transferred onto the recording sheet.
La présente invention a pour objet un système d'impression utilisant une imprimante thermique, un dispositif de transfert d'encre et un dispositif d'impression par transfert thermique. Le dispositif de transfert d'encre et le dispositif d'impression par transfert thermique peuvent être sélectivement montés à l'intérieur de l'imprimante thermique. Le dispositif de transfert d'encre comporte un réservoir d'encre dans lequel le liquide est stocké. Le dispositif d'impression par transfert thermique comporte un ruban encreur. Lorsque ni le dispositif d'impression par transfert thermique ni l'imprimante thermique ne sont montés à l'intérieur de l'imprimante thermique, une image ne peut être formée sur une feuille de papier thermosensible que par l'imprimante thermique. Lorsque le dispositif de transfert d'encre est monté dans l'imprimante thermique, l'encre conservée dans le réservoir d'encre est transférée vers une feuille sur laquelle une image est formée. Lorsque le dispositif d'impression par transfert thermique est monté dans l'imprimante thermique, l'encre contenue dans le ruban encreur est transférée vers le support d'impression.
