The invention concerns a method of producing a transdermal therapeutic system for the release of active substances to the skin in the form of a flat multi-chamber or multi-chamber channel system, in which a film containing the active substances is fitted between a top film and a bottom film. Subsequently, the top and bottom films are pressed together at a discrete and/or adjacent points so that the corresponding points between them in the film containing the active substances are displaced and chambers or channels containing the active substances are formed, the top and bottom films being permanently joined, at the same time or later, at the points at which they are pressed together.
