This invention pertains to a method for producing crack-free, insoluble and greater than 1.25 µm thick coatings from hydrogen silsesquioxane resin compositions. This method comprises applying a fillerless hydrogen silsesquioxane resin composition onto a substrate and thereafter heating said resin at a temperature of less than 500°C. for a controlled period of time to produce the crack-free coating having a thickness of greater than 1.25 µm. The resins may be cured in either an inert or oxygen containing environment.

Cette invention concerne une méthode de production de revêtements insolubles, exempts de fissure, d'épaisseur supérieure à 1,25 µm, à partir de compositions de résine d'hydrogénosilsesquioxane. Cette méthode consiste à appliquer une composition de résine d'hydrogénosilsesquioxane sur un substrat, puis à chauffer cette résine à une température inférieure à 500 .degré.C, pendant une période déterminée, afin de produire le revêtement exempt de fissures, d'épaisseur supérieure à 1,25 µm. Les résines peuvent être polymérisées soit dans un environnement inerte, soit dans un environnement contenant de l'oxygène.
