A vertical mixer (10) is disclosed for mixing feed materials and the like. The apparatus includes at least two augers (34, 34a) which rotate around two respective vertical axes. The augers are dissimilar relative to each other, providing an improved mixing performance. The dissimilarity can include, but is not limited to, direction of rotation and size.
