ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The process according to the invention consists in applying statistical image analysis of cellular nuclei and the chromatin pattern to the estimation of genetic information. Such genetic information is contained among the parameters of morphology, densitometry, texture of the chromatin and colour. The process also includes a step of multi-parameter analysis enabling the most discriminating vectors leading to the establishment of an index of selec- tion, to be determined. This process is applicable in the selection of animal and vegetable species.
