A hard-wired and wireless system for operating a dental or medical treatment apparatus is provided. The system includes a footswitch device and a dental/medical base unit, each having a communication element for transmitting and receiving signals. The footswitch and base unit are each programmed to have an initial identification address. Then, the footswitch and base unit are reprogrammed to know the identification address of the other. The footswitch and base unit can be reprogrammed in the field by the end user. Subsequent communications between the footswitch and base unit include both identification addresses. The footswitch includes two switches that are activated by depressing the upper cover of the footswitch to a first position and second position respectively. The footswitch is particularly suitable for operating an ultrasonic dental sealer.
La présente invention concerne un système branchable et sans fil pour faire fonctionner un appareil de traitement dental ou médical. Ce système comprend un dispositif de pédale de commutation et une unité de base dentaire/médicale, chacune comportant un élément de communication pour transmettre et recevoir des signaux. La pédale de commutation et l~unité de base sont chacune programmées de manière à avoir une adresse d~identification initiale. Ainsi, la pédale de commutation et l~unité de base sont reprogrammées pour connaître l'adresse d'identification de l'autre. La pédale de commutation et l~unité de base peuvent être reprogrammées dans le champ par l~utilisateur final. Des communications ultérieures entre la pédale et l~unité de base comprennent les adresses d~identification. La pédale de commutation comprend deux commutateurs qui sont activés en appuyant sur le couvercle supérieur de la pédale pour la mettre respectivement en première et seconde position. Cette pédale convient particulièrement pour faire fonctionner un détartreur dentaire ultrasonique.
