The "HEAVYWEIGHT LOCK" is a theft preventive measure designed to protect computer towers. It acomplishes this by clamping the tower in a 4 inch wide band of 3/8 inch steel placed midway along the tower's length. This band is a U shape and is screwed into a multiple and interlocking stack of one inch thick iron weights. (L=18-20") The top weight has a 1/2 stopper at the front and back of the tower, thus preventing it being slid forward or backward out of the clamping devise. The stoppers in no way inhibit any conection or switching on the tower. The fact that the U shaped clamp is holding the tower firmly, it cannot be lifted above the 1/2 inch stoppers. Also the U shaped clamp is secured with tamperproof set screws, preferably of two or three different types or sizes. Becasuse the weights are interlocking the "HEAVYWEIGHT LOCK" can be made as heavy as is needed.

Cette invention concerne un dispositif de protection antivol d'ordinateurs modèle tour, désigné "HEAVYWEIGHT LOCK". Il se compose d'un étrier de 4 po de largeur en tôle d'acier de 3/8 po d'épaisseur, posé à mi-chemin entre le devant et l'arrière de la tour. Les pattes de l'étrier sont vissées dans un empilage de blocs de fer imbriqués d'un pouce d'épaisseur et de 18 à 20 po de longueur. Le bloc supérieur comporte des butées de 1/2 po à l'avant et à l'arrière pour empêcher le malfaiteur d'enlever l'ordinateur en le faisant glisser vers l'avant ou l'arrière. Les butées ne gênent par les travaux de raccordement de l'ordinateur ni ne bloquent l'accès au bouton de mise en marche de celui-ci. Comme l'étrier serre fermement l'ordinateur contre les blocs de fer, celui-ci ne peut être soulevé au-dessus des butées. La fixation de l'étrier est réalisée au moyen de vis de blocage indévissables, de préférence de deux ou trois types ou tailles différents. Les blocs susmentionnés étant imbricables, on peut varier le poids de l'objet de l'invention à volonté.
