The present invention generally relates to a method of immobilising molecules or particles on the surface of hydrophobic polymeric materials, wherein said immobilisation is mediated by a mucin layer adsorbed to said surface. More particularly the invention relates to such a method, wherein the polymeric material is a biomaterial for in vivo applications. The present invention also relates to a hydrophobic polymeric substrate provided with a mucin layer having selected molecules and/or particles immobilised thereto, obtainable by means of the method, and a biocompatible highly specific binding system comprising a mucin and a lectin or a functional fragment of a lectin, which system can be used in the method.
La présente invention concerne un procédé d'immobilisation de molécules ou de particules sur la surface de matériaux polymères hydrophobes, dans lequel ladite immobilisation est induite par une couche de mucine adsorbée sur ladite surface. De manière plus spécifique, cette invention concerne un procédé dans lequel le matériau polymère est un biomatériau destiné à des applications in vivo. Cette invention concerne également un substrat polymère hydrophobe pourvu d'une couche de mucine comportant des molécules et/ou des particules sélectionnées immobilisées sur cette dernière qu'on peut obtenir à l'aide du procédé et un système de liaison fortement spécifique qui comprend une mucine et une lectine ou un fragment fonctionnel d'une lectine, ce système pouvant être utilisé dans ledit procédé.
