Compact vibrator to emit elastic waves in a material medium such as the basement. - The vibrator includes a base plate or pavilion (3) intended to be coupled with a surface operation of this environment, an inertial mass (5) and at least a couple of electromechanical transducers (1, 2) each comprising one or more pillars (A, B) produced, for example, in a piezoelectric or magnetostrictive type material. The pillars (A) of the first transducer (1) are interposed between the pavilion (3) and a bridge plate (4). The pillars (B) of the second transducer are placed between the bridge plate (4) and the inertial mass (5), on the same side of the bridge plate (4) as the pillars (A) preferably such that the inertial mass (5) is brought back to the vicinity of the pavilion (3), which contributes to the compactness and stability of the vibrator which can thus be used on slightly sloping surfaces. An excitation generator (6) comprising means for phase shifting (7) respectively provides the two transducers (A, B) with phase shifting signals with respect to each other and amplitude modulations, so that their vibrations are combined. - Applications namely include those applied to equipment in an area of operation of an underground zone to perform periodical seismic monitoring or seismic prospecting.
- Vibrateur compact pour émettre des ondes élastiques dans un milieu matériel tel que le sous-sol. - Le vibrateur comporte une plaque de base ou pavillon (3) destiné à être couplée en opération avec une surface de ce milieu, une masse d'inertie (5) et au moins un couple de transducteurs électromécaniques (1, 2) comprenant chacun un ou plusieurs piliers (A, B) réalisés par exemple en un matériau de type piézo-électrique ou magnétostrictif. Les piliers (A) du premier transducteur (1) sont interposés entre le pavillon (3) et une plaque-relais (4). Les piliers (B) du deuxième transducteur sont interposés entre la plaque-relais (4) et la masse d'inertie (5), du même côté de la plaque-relais (4) que les piliers (A) de préférence, de façon que la masse d'inertie (5) soit ramenée au voisinage du pavillon (3), ce qui contribue à la compacité et la stabilité du vibrateur que l'on peut de ce fait utiliser sur des surfaces légèrement en pente. Un générateur d'excitation (6) comportant des moyens de déphasage (7) applique respectivement aux deux transducteurs (A, B) des signaux déphasés les uns par rapport aux autres et modulables en amplitude, de façon que leurs vibrations se conjuguent. - Applications notamment à l'équipement d'une zone d'exploitation d'une zone souterraine en moyens de surveillance sismique périodique ou bien pour réaliser des opérations de prospection sismique.
