A computerized method and apparatus for creating a scratch effect through a MIDI interface (24). In one form, timing signals are derived from a turntable (18) whose direction and speed of rotation are manually controlled by a disk jockey. The timing signals are processed by a microcomputer (44) into a MIDI protocol recognizable by a conventional MIDI instrument. Preferably, the microcomputer (44) is coupled to control a computer which interprets the MIDI protocol output and uses the output to regulate speed and direction of playback of a musical and/or visual presentation.
Procédé et appareil informatisés visant à créer un effet de scratching par l'intermédiaire d'une interface MIDI (24). Selon une réalisation, des signaux de temporisation sont dérivés d'une patine tourne-disque dont le sens et la vitesse de rotation sont commandés manuellement par un disque-jockey. Les signaux de temporisation sont traités par un micro-ordinateur (44) dans un protocole MIDI reconnaissable par un instrument MIDI traditionnel. Le micro-ordinateur (44) est de préférence couplé de façon à commander un ordinateur qui interprète la sortie du protocole MIDI et utilise cette sortie pour réguler la vitesse et le sens de lecture d'une présentation musicale et/ou visuelle.
