A sealing member comprises a number of small discrete materials collected together in a pressed state. At least a surface portion of each of the small discrete materials is composed of a carbon base material. A process is also disclosed for forming a sealing member, comprising the steps of filling a number of such small discrete materials in a packing box in which the sealing member is to be arranged and pressing the small discrete materials. A small discrete composite ceramic material is further disclosed, which comprises an inner portion and an outer portion enveloping said inner portion. The inner portion is composed of a ceramic small discrete materials, and the outer portion is composed of a carbon base material. Methods are also disclosed for producing such a composite ceramic small discrete materials.
