- 66 - PROCESS FOR PRODUCING WIPING NONWOVEN FABRIC ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A nonwoven fabric useful for disposable towels, napkins, wet tissue papers, wipers, and dustcloths, is produced by laminating a paper sheet comprising pulp fibers and having a wet tensile strength of 0.04 to 1.5 kg/25 mm on a surface of a filament web made from a plurality of filaments randomly accumulated on each other; and applying a plurality of water jet streams toward the paper sheet of the resultant laminate under a pressure sufficient to allow the water jet streams to penetrate the filament web through the paper sheet and to cause the pulp fibers and the filaments to intertwine with each other, thereby forming a nonwoven fabric.
