The present invention relates to the delivery of caffeine through an inhalation route. Specifically, it relates to aerosols containing caffeine that are used in inhalation therapy. In a composition aspect of the present invention, the aerosol comprises particles comprising at least 5 percent by weight of caffeine. In a method aspect of the present invention, caffeine is delivered to a mammal through an inhalation route. The method comprises: a) heating a composition, wherein the composition comprises at least 5 percent by weight of caffeine, to form a vapor; and, b) allowing the vapor to cool, thereby forming a condensation aerosol comprising particles, which is inhaled by the mammal. In a kit aspect of the present invention, a kit for delivering caffeine through an inhalation route to a mammal is provided which comprises: a) a composition comprising at least 5 percent by weight of caffeine; and, b) a device that forms a caffeine containing aerosol from the composition, for inhalation by the mammal.
La présente invention concerne la délivrance de caféine par voie inhalée. En particulier, l'invention se rapporte à des aérosols contenant de la caféine qui sont utilisés en thérapie d'inhalation. Dans un aspect relatif à la composition de la présente invention, l'aérosol comprend des particules contenant au moins 5 pour cent en poids de caféine. Dans un aspect relatif au procédé de la présente invention, la caféine est délivrée à un mammifère par voie inhalée. Le procédé précité consiste à : a) chauffer une composition, la composition comprenant au moins 5 pour cent en poids de caféine, pour former une vapeur ; et b) laisser refroidir la vapeur de façon qu'elle forme un aérosol de condensation comprenant les particules, qui est inhalé par le mammifère. La présente invention concerne également, dans un autre aspect, une trousse permettant de délivrer la caféine à un mammifère par voie inhalée, qui comprend : a) une composition contenant au moins 5 pour cent en poids de caféine ; et b) un dispositif qui, à partir de la composition, forme un aérosol contenant de la caféine destiné à être inhalé par le mammifère.
