A method is provided for removing a fugitive pattern, such as wax or other meltable pattern material, residing inside of a refractory mold by discharging condensable vapor such as steam inside the mold to contact and melt the pattern while an exterior of the mold is subjected to a non-condensing gas atmosphere such as air outside of the mold wherein the condensable vapor inside the mold and the atmosphere outside of the mold are at substantially the same pressure. Condensable vapor is condensed inside the mold where the vapor has contacted the pattern while the exterior of the mold remains free of condenate. The condensed vapor and melted pattern material are drained out of the mold. The condensed vapor can be discharged initially inside a hollow sprue of a fugitive pattern assembly to melt the sprue and then inside the mold to melt the patterns of the pattern assembly. The method allows the removal of fugitive pattern materials from molds of any thickness and reduces the cracking of the mold during pattern removal.
L'invention a trait à un procédé d'enlèvement d'un modèle temporaire, tel que la cire ou autre matériau de modèle thermofusible, à l'intérieur d'un moule réfractaire et qui consiste à introduire de la vapeur condensable telle que de la vapeur d'eau dans le moule pour qu'elle vienne en contact avec le modèle et et la fasse fondre tandis qu'une partie extérieure du moule est exposée à un gaz non condensable tel que l'air extérieur du moule et que la vapeur condensable à l'intérieur du moule et l'atmosphère à l'extérieur du moule sont pratiquement à la même pression. La vapeur condensable est condensée à l'intérieur du moule à l'endroit où la vapeur est venue en contact avec le modèle tandis que l'extérieur du moule reste exempt de condensat. La vapeur condensée et le matériau de modèle fondu sont évacués à l'extérieur du moule. La vapeur condensée peut d'abord être introduite à l'intérieur du jet de coulée creux d'un ensemble modèle temporaire pour faire fondre le jet de coulée puis être ensuite introduite dans le moule pour faire fondre les modèles de l'ensemble modèle. Ce procédé permet de démouler des matériaux de modèle temporaire de toutes épaisseurs et permet de réduire la fissuration du moule lors du démoulage.
