A process for producing a microporous polyolefin film which is used in applications such as water treatment and microfiltration membranes and has a relatively large pore diameter, a narrow pore diameter distribution, and excellent permeability, characterized by preparing a solution comprising 5 to 40 % by weight of a polyolefin composition containing an ultrahigh-molecular polyolefin having a weight-average molecular weight of 5×10 5 or higher and 95 to 60 % by weight of a solvent, extruding the solution through die lips, rapidly cooling the extrudate, and stretching the resultant sheet 1.01- to 1.4-fold in terms of areal ratio.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un film microporeux de polyoléfine, utilisé dans des applications telles que l'épuration de l'eau ou les membranes de microfiltration. Ce film présente des pores d'un diamètre relativement élevé, une faible répartition du diamètre des pores, et une excellente perméabilité. On peut obtenir ce film en préparant une solution renfermant 5 à 40 % en poids d'une composition polyoléfine contenant une polyoléfine à poids moléculaire très élevé, dont la masse moléculaire moyenne est supérieure ou égale à 5x10<5>; cette solution renferme également 60 à 95 % en poids d'un solvant. On extrude ensuite cette solution à travers des lèvres de filière plates, on fait refroidir rapidement l'extrudat, et on étire la feuille ainsi obtenue 1,01 à 1,04 fois en termes de rapport surfacique.
