The invention relates to a battery, especially a flat cell, comprising an electrode consisting of lithium metal or an alloy, an electrode with an active mass which intercalates lithium ions, a separator between the two electrodes and a housing which surrounds the electrodes and the separator and which has leads for the two electrodes. At least one of the electrodes is a multi- layered body formed by folding and the layer thickness of the active mass is the same between the individual folds.
