A method for causing gelling or increase of viscosity of an aqueous medium containing a gellable polymeric material having substituents with phenolic hydroxy groups comprises adding an oxidase, particularly a laccase, to the aqueous medium.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour provoquer la gélification ou l'accroissement de la viscosité d'un milieu aqueux contenant un matériau polymère gélifiable possédant des substituants avec des groupes hydroxy phénolique. Ce procédé consiste à ajouter une oxydase, notamment une laccase, au milieu aqueux.
