A coordination planner is provided for preparing and executing a user request on one or more data sources. The coordination planner has a query converter and an operation distributor. The query converter converts a user request into a converted query having multiple query elements. Each query element is associated with a query operation provider that is capable of providing a specific query operation. The operation distributor distributes the operation of the query elements to associated query operation providers for execution of the query. The coordination planner is suitably used in a query framework system having multiple query operation providers.
