The coded video data read from the hard disk unit (101) is decoded according to an instruction of an editing control section (109) by a first multiformat decoder (102) or a second multiformat decoder (104), and fed to a first format converter (103) or second format converter (105). Data subjected to video format conversion by the format converters is combined by a DVE (106), subjected to video format conversion by a third format converter (107), and outputted from a video output section (108).
