ABSTRACT An outlet unit (44) for installation in a power distribution system for modular furniture units carrying multiple pairs of line and neutral conductors. The pairs of conductors are disposed symmetrically with respect to a longitudinal center line at an outlet site of the system housing (10,10'). Two groups of symmetrically arranged openings in the system housing provide access to one each of the conductors. The outlet unit (44) includes first and second contacts (47,52) adapted for receiving mating contacts of a connector to be connected across a selected one of the pairs of conductors of the system. Third and fourth contacts (49,53) project through the rear face of the unit for engaging a selected one of the pairs of conductors of the system when the outlet unit (44) is assembled to the system. The third and fourth contacts (49,53) engage one pair of conductors when inserted into the first group of openings and upon turning the unit end for end, engage another pair of conductors when inserted into the second group of openings. 14528 CA
