The invention concerns a method and a device for measuring a line attenuation. The inventive measuring method enables to measure a line attenuation at a given frequency F and comprises at least the following steps: (a) transmitting an electric signal to one end of the electric line, said signal comprising a spectral component of amplitude A¿1? at frequency F; (b) measuring the signal reflected by the other end of the line, at the end of the line whence the signal has been transmitted; (c) determining amplitude A¿2 ?of the spectral component at frequency F of the reflected signal; (d) determining the line attenuation on the basis of the ratio between amplitude A¿2? and amplitude A¿1?. The invention also concerns a device (111, 109) for implementing said method. The invention is in particular useful for rating asymmetric digital subscriber lines (ADSL) (105).
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de mesure de l'atténuation d'une ligne. A cet effet, l'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de mesure de l'atténuation d'une ligne. Le procédé de mesure selon l'invention permet de mesurerl'atténuation d'une ligne à une fréquence F donnée et comprend au moins les étapes suivantes: (a) l'émission d'un signal électrique à une extrémité de la ligne électrique, ledit signal comprenant une composante spectrale d'amplitude A1 à la fréquence F; (b) la mesure du signal réfléchi par l'autre extrémité de la ligne, à l'extrémité de la ligne d'où le signal a été émis; (c) la détermination de l'amplitude A2 de la composante spectrale à la fréquence F du signal réfléchi; (d) la détermination de l'atténuation de la ligne à partir du rapport entre l'amplitude A2 et l'amplitude A1. L'invention a aussi pour objet un dispositif (111, 109) pour la mise en oeuvre du procédé précité. Elle s'applique notamment à la qualification des lignes (105) numériques à paire asymétriques (LNPA), connues sous le nom de "asymetric digital subscriber line" (ADSL) dans la littérature anglo-saxonne.
