Solids deposition in a gas environment, such as a gas transmis-sion line or pipeline are measured using metal-coated quartz crystal microbal-ance (QCM) in a QCM probe within a high pressure gas chamber in the gas en-vironment. The metal coated on the QCM may be iron, iron alloys and/or iron oxide. The weight measurements are conducted at a constant (.DELTA.T) or controlled (T = f(t)) temperature between the high pressure gas chamber and the QCM probe. The weight gain during a CE cycle is associated with the solids formation rate.

L'invention concerne le dépôt de matières solides dans un environnement gazeux, tel qu'une ligne de transmission de gaz ou un gazoduc, mesuré à l'aide d'une microbalance à cristal de quartz (QCM) à revêtement métallique dans une sonde QCM dans une chambre à gaz à haute pression de l'environnement gazeux. Le revêtemennt métallique de la QCM peut être fait de fer, d'alliages de fer et/ou d'oxyde de fer. Les mesures de poids sont exécutées à une température constante (?T) ou contrôlée (T = f(t)) entre la chambre à gaz à haute pression et la sonde QCM. Le gain de poids au cours d'un cycle CE est associé au taux de formation de matières solides.
