A method for interpreting a plurality of m- dimensional attribute vectors (m2) assigned to a plurality of locations in an n-dimensional interpretation space (n1), which method comprises arranging at least a subset of the attribute vectors as points in an m- dimensional attribute space; defining k classes (k2) of attribute vectors by identifying for each class at least one classification point in attribute space; postulating a classification rule for points in attribute space; determining a class-membership attribute of a point in attribute space using the classification points and the classification rule to obtain a classified point; and assigning a display parameter to the classified point which is related to the class-membership attribute. In one embodiment the display parameter is a mixed display parameter derived from probabilistic membership values each representing a probability that the classified point belongs to a selected class. In another embodiment classified points are displayed in attribute space and in interpretation space at the same time. The method can be used in a method of producing hydrocarbons from a subsurface formation. Also provided are corresponding computer program products and computer systems.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'interprétation d'une pluralité de vecteurs d'attribut de dimension m (m2) affectés à une pluralité de positions dans un espace d'interprétation de dimension n (n1). Ledit procédé consiste à disposer au moins un sous-ensemble de vecteurs d'attribut en tant que points dans un espace d'attribut de dimension m; à définir k classes (k2) de vecteurs d'attribut par identification, pour chaque classe, d'au moins un point de classification dans un espace d'attribut; à formuler une règle de classification pour des points dans l'espace d'attribut; à déterminer un attribut d'appartenance de classe d'un point dans l'espace d'attribut au moyen des points de classification et de la règle de classification afin d'obtenir un point classifié; et à affecter un paramètre d'affichage au point classifié lié à l'attribut d'appartenance de classe. Dans un mode de réalisation, le paramètre d'affichage est un paramètre d'affichage mixte dérivé de valeurs d'appartenance probabilistes représentant chacune une probabilité d'appartenance du point classifié à une classe sélectionnée. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, les points classifiés sont affichés simultanément dans l'espace d'attribut et dans l'espace d'interprétation. Le procédé selon l'invention peut être employé dans un procédé de production d'hydrocarbures à partir d'une formation souterraine. L'invention concerne également des produits de programmes informatiques et des systèmes informatiques correspondants.
