The invention provides devices and methods for collecting vapor gas generated by an oil-containing material within a production tank. The devices and associated methods result in produced oil having a reduced level of dissolved hydrocarbons and recovery of vapor gas for resale. The devices include vapor recovery units connected to conventional oil-production units so that a conventional unit is converted to a low emission unit. In an embodiment, the device is a column separator comprising a perforated, packed spiral baffle with one end that receives vapor gas and a second end for removing gas that has traversed the length of the column separator. Also provided are methods for converting an oil-production unit into a low-emission oil production unit using any of the devices disclosed herein.
L'invention concerne des appareils et méthodes de récupération de vapeurs gazeuses créées par un matériau contenant du pétrole à l'intérieur d'une cuve de production. Les appareils et les méthodes associées permettent de produire un pétrole ayant un niveau réduit d'hydrocarbures dissous et de récupérer les vapeurs gazeuses pour les revendre. Les appareils comprennent des unités de récupération de vapeur connectées à des unités conventionnelles de production de pétrole permettant de convertir une unité conventionnelle en une unité à faible émission. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'appareil est un séparateur à colonne comprenant une chicane perforée en spirale à garnissage dont une extrémité reçoit les vapeurs gazeuses et une deuxième extrémité permet d'extraire le gaz qui a traversé toute la longueur du séparateur à colonne. L'invention concerne aussi des méthodes de conversion d'une unité de production de pétrole en une unité de production de pétrole à faible émission utilisant un appareil de l'invention.
