ABSTRACT The specification describes a ternary alloy of aluminium. The alloy described comprises from 80 to 96% by weight of aluminium and from 4 to 20% by weight of titanium and a third element selected from the group consisting of cobalt, chromium, copper, magnesium, nickel and iron. The weight ratio of titanium to ternary alloying element lies in the range from 1:1 to 6:1. The alloy can be aged at a temperature in the range from 300 to 450°C.
