25561-79 ABSTRACT In the processing of printed products, such as news- papers, magazines or parts thereof, the printed products (24) are transported, held at a first edge (26), running transversely to its conveying direction (F), by the mouth (22) of individually controllable grippers (14) of a conveying device (10) moved at a conveying speed (v1). The products are displaced in the mouth (22) and with at least partial opening of the grippers (14), are brought to rest with the second edge (30) opposite the first edge (26) on straightening means (39) driven approximately in the conveying direction (F), and transported further upon subsequent closure of the grippers (14). For positioning in the gripper (14), the printed products (24) are thrust towards the interior of the mouth (22) of the grippers (14) by the straightening means (39). The latter are driven relative to the conveying speed (v1) at a lower speed (v2) in the case of the second edge (30) leading in relation to the first edge (26) and at a higher speed (v2) in the case of a trailing second edge (30), before the grippers (14) are closed.
