The present invention is directed to a white light emitting diode comprising a light emitting component using a semiconductor as a light emitting layer and a phosphor which absorbs a portion of the light emitted by the light emitting component and emits light of wavelength different from that of the absorbed light, wherein the light emitting layer of the light emitting component is a nitride compound semiconductor and the phosphor contains garnet fluorescent material activated with cerium which contains at least one element selected from the group consisting of Y, Lu, Sc, La, Gd and Sm, and at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al, Ga and In, and is subject to less deterioration of emission characteristic even when used with high luminance for a long period of time.
L'invention concerne un dispositif électroluminescent présentant un élément électroluminescent doté d'une couche de semi-conducteur électroluminescente et d'un fluorogène de photoluminescence absorbant une partie de la lumière émise par l'élément électroluminescent et émettant de la lumière dont la longueur d'onde est différente de celle de la lumière absorbée. La couche électroluminescente de l'élément électroluminescent se compose d'un semi-conducteur à composé nitrure et le fluorogène de photoluminescence contient un fluorogène à base de grenat activé par du cérium contenant au moins un élément choisi parmi les éléments: Y, Lu, Sc, La, Gd et Sm, ainsi qu'au moins un élément choisi parmi les éléments Al, Ga et In. Ainsi, on obtient une diode électroluminescente blanche présentant une luminance élevée et une caractéristique d'émission de lumière non détériorée même lorsque l'on utilise la diode pendant une durée prolongée.
