The present invention is directed to the applications of a novel cytokine, named THANK, for TNF homologue that activates apoptosis, NF-~B and c-jun N- terminal kinase. Such applications include using THANK inhibitors to inhibit the activation of NF-~B and to treat a pathological condition caused by the activation of NF-~B. Also provided is a method of inhibiting growth of a wide variety of tumor cells by administering THANK protein.

La présente invention concerne les applications d'une nouvelle cytokine appelée THANK, pour un homologue du TNF qui active l'apoptose, NF-~B, et la kinase c-jun N-terminale. Ces applications consistent à utiliser des inhibiteurs de THANK pour inhiber l'activation de NF-~B et pour traiter un état pathologique causé par l'activation de NF-~B. L'invention concerne en outre une méthode qui permet d'inhiber la croissance d'un grand nombre de cellules tumorales par administration de la protéine THANK.
