In an orthesis, in particular an orthesis for relieving pressure on the heel, consisting of a shaft surrounding at least partially at least the lower part of the lower leg and a foot part connected with the shaft via a shell-like heel part, in which a continuous tread surface closing the orthesis toward the bottom is arranged between the tip of the foot part and heel part, it is provided according to the invention that the tread surface is flat at least on the side pointing into the orthesis and symmetrical to its median longitudinal axis and that a longitudinal arch support for the foot can be affixed to this flat surface, whose area outside of the foot extends approximately horizontally while the area on the inside of the foot has a superelevated arched shape, whereby the side at the heel of the arch rises more or less at right angles from the flat tread surface, passes into a top area and extends from there at an acute angle to the foot part or tread surface.
