A method of treatment or prevention of damage due to ionizing radiation exposure involves administering to a subject in need of such treatment an effective amount of a composition containing 1) a compound including a radiation damage-inhibiting polypeptide containing amino acid sequence LKKTET (such as Thymosin .beta.4), a conservative variant of LKKTET, an actin- sequestering agent, an anti-inflammatory agent; 2) an agent which stimulates production of the compound in the subject; 3) an agent which regulates the compound in the subject; or 4) an antagonist of the compound, so as to inhibit radiation damage in the subject.
L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement ou de prévention des dommages causés par la radioexposition ionisante, qui consiste à administrer à un sujet nécessitant un tel traitement une dose efficace d'une composition qui contient : 1) un composé qui renferme un polypeptide inhibant les dommages causés par la radioexposition qui contient une séquence aminoacide LKKTET (par ex. La thymosine .szlig.4), une variante conservatrice de LKKTET, un agent séquestrant de l'actine, un agent anti-inflammatoire; 2) un agent qui stimule la production du composé chez le sujet; 3) un agent qui régule le composé chez le sujet; ou 4) un antagoniste du composé, pour inhiber les dommages causés par la radioexposition chez le sujet.
