A method for coupling a subscriber terminal equipment unit, which is not a call center, and which is connected to a switching node of a communication network, to a call existing within an area of the communication network to which a plurality of subscriber terminal equipment units can be connected, and to which a known call identity is allocated. A coupling request proceeds from the subscriber terminal equipment unit. The coupling request is output by the subscriber terminal equipment unit to the switching node of the communication network while indicating the network address of the call center and while indicating the known call identity. The coupling request is communicated within the communication network in the direction of the network address of the call center up to a network component in which the call exists. A call setup to the subscriber terminal equipment unit is initiated proceeding from this network component.
