ABSTRACT A buoyant alarm device which provides an alarm indication when the surface of a quiescent body of water is disturbed by the entry of an object therein. The device includes an alarm body comprising two buoyant flotation chambers attached to a connecting member. A control circuit means is positioned within the alarm body and is connected to a first electrode adjustably mounted on the connecting member and to a second electrode mounted on a flotation chamber. A third electrode is also located on the alarm body. The electrodes are positioned so that when the alarm device is placed in a quiescent body of water the first and third electrodes are above the surface of the water and the second electrode is below the surface of the water.
