The present invention relates to a solid laundry detergent composition in particulate form, the composition comprises: (i) an anionic detersive surfactant system that comprises at least 50%, by weight of the anionic detersive surfactant system, of alkyl benzene sulphonate; (ii) a source of peroxygen that is preferably at least partially coated by a coating ingredient; (iii) a chelant; (iv) from 0% to less than 5%, by weight of the composition, of zeolite builder; (v) from 0% to less than 5%, by weight of the composition, of phosphate builder; and (vi) optionally from 0% to less than 5%, by weight of the composition, of silicate salt; wherein the chelant has a metal ion chelation efficacy such that at pH 10.0, 0.1M NaCl and 25~C: (i) the ratio of the chelant's stability constant (log K) for Cu2+ cation to the chelant's stability constant (log K) for Ca2+ cation is greater than 1: 1; (ii) the ratio of the chelant's stability constant (log K) for Fe3+ cation to the chelant's stability constant (log K) for Ca2+ cation is greater than 1 : 1; (iii) the ratio of the chelant's stability constant (log K) for Ni2+ cation to the chelant's stability constant (log K) for Ca2+ cation is greater than 1 : 1.
