A system and method for monitoring, external defibrillation and pacing which allows an untrained human enabler (100) immediate access to a medical professional (301) at the central station, who can and will remotely monitor, diagnose and treat a victim of a medical emergency at one of a plurality of remote sites. The method comprises the steps of: 1) placing a plurality of contact electrodes (200) on the chest wall of a victim at a remote site, the plurality of contact electrodes being arranged on the chest wall for the receipt of ECG signals from the victim and for application of electrical pulses to the victim; 2) transmitting the ECG signals form the remote site to the central station (300); 3) receiving the ECG signals at the central station and displaying them (302) for the medical professional; 4) the medical professional manually selecting, at the central station, from a menu of defibrillation pulses and pacing pulses for application to the victim at the remote site; 5) transmitting the results of the selection by the medical professional at the central station to the remote site; and 6) receiving the results of the selection at the remote site and applying the selected pulses to the victim between at least two of the contact electrodes.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de surveillance, de défibrillation externe et de stimulation permettant à un animateur humain non formé (100) d'accéder immédiatement à un professionnel de la santé (301) à la station centrale, qui peut surveiller, diagnostiquer et traiter, et qui surveillera, diagnostiquera et traitera à distance une victime d'une urgence médicale à l'un d'une pluralité de sites distants. Le procédé consiste : 1) à poser plusieurs électrodes de contact (200) sur la paroi de la cage thoracique d'une victime à un site distant, lesdites électrodes étant disposées sur la paroi de cage thoracique de manière à recevoir des signaux ECG provenant de la victime et à appliquer à celle-ci des impulsions électriques; 2) à transmettre les signaux ECG du site distant à la station centrale (300); 3) à recevoir les signaux ECG à la station centrale et à les afficher (302) au professionnel de la santé; 4) à amener le professionnel de la santé à sélectionner manuellement, à la station centrale, dans un menu d'impulsions de défibrillation et d'impulsions de stimulation pour application à la victime sur le site distant; 5) à transmettre au site distant les résultats de la sélection effectuée par le professionnel de la santé à la station centrale; et 6) à recevoir les résultats de la sélection sur le site distant et à appliquer à la victime les impulsions sélectionnées entre au moins deux des électrodes de contact.
