The invention relates to a closure for a container, consisting of a lower closure part and a screw cap, wherein the lower closure part can be connected with the container opening by means of a base element and has a pouring spout, wherein the screw top consisting of a cap bottom and cap shell with an interior thread can be screwed on and unscrewed from the pouring spout, which is provided with an exterior thread, wherein the screw cap screwed on the pouring spout is secured against being unscrewed by means of engaged connections and wherein the screw cap can be released for being unscrewed by releasing the engaged connections. A child safety device is provided by means of a special design of the engaged connections between the screw cap and the lower closure part, wherein the body is no longer a part of the child safety device and therefore can be optimally adjusted to its function.
