The present invention relates to certain polyamine thiols which are useful as radioprotective agents and which have the following formula (I) or (II) (see formula I) wherein m is an integer from 2 to 4, n is an integer from 4 to 10, R is C2-C6 alkyl, and B1, B2, B3 and B4 are each independently H, -CH2CH2SH or -CH2CH2SPO3H2; with the proviso that at least one of B1, B2, B3 or B4 is other than H; or (see formula II) wherein m is an integer from 2 to 4, n is an integer from 3 to 10, R is C2-C6 alkyl, and B1, B2 and B3 are each independently H, -CH2CH2SH or -CH2CH2SPO3H2; with the proviso that at least one of B1, B2 or B3, is other than H; and the pharmaceutically acceptable addition salts thereof.
