An impact-absorbing shock module (22) is provided comprising two pylons (26, 28) telescopingly engaged to permit axial and rotational motion therebetween. A resilient element, preferably a spring (30) or spring-fluid combination, provides axial shock absorption. A tubular torque-resisting cuff (34) provides rotational resistance, or torsion- resistance. An optional fluid valve (50) may be provided so that the fluid pressure may be varied to adjust the torsion resistance of the cuff (34).
