Methods and kits for performing minimally invasive medical procedures are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a kit includes a medicament including an enzyme, such as a serine protease having an ability to sensitize less than an ability to sensitize of chymopapain. The enzyme is configured to dissolve tissue within a nucleus of an intervertebral disc. A delivery device is included in the kit and is configured to be percutaneously inserted into the nucleus of an intervertebral disc and inject the medicament into the nucleus of the intervertebral disc. In some embodiments, the medicament includes subtilisin. In some embodiments, the serine protease has an antigenicity less than an antigenicity of chymopapain. A kit can also include a pressure sensor that is configured to measure a pressure within a nucleus of the intervertebral disc.
