A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) uses an oscillator providing accuracy for synchronized communications parameters in an active mode, and operates at reduced power during a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode. A real time clock (RTC) is used as the frequency standard during the reduced power operation, and a frequency adjustment is effected while the RTC is used as the frequency standard. By effecting the frequency adjustment, the RTC is able to be used as the frequency standard for substantial time periods, thereby reducing power consumption of the WTRU during the DRX mode.
L'invention concerne un émetteur/récepteur sans fil (WTRU) qui utilise un oscillateur produisant une précision pour des paramètres de communications synchronisées en mode actif, et qui fonctionne à une puissance réduite pendant un mode de réception discontinue (DRX). On utilise une horloge en temps réel (RTC) comme fréquence standard pendant le fonctionnement à puissance réduite, et on effectue un réglage de fréquence pendant l'utilisation de la RTC comme fréquence standard. En effectuant ledit réglage, on peut utiliser la RTC comme fréquence standard durant des périodes importantes, ce qui réduit la consommation d'énergie du WTRU pendant le mode DRX.
