A method and an apparatus are disclosed for combining information from two sources and for separating the combined information after transmission over one physical channel. A mask which represents a specified piece of information such as a control command or logic state of an input is exclusively ORed with an encoded input signal, thereby inducing a violation of an error control code. At the receiving end of the system, each of a set of masks is exclusively ORed with the received data stream. One of the masks is the same as the mask initially combined with the encoded input signal. Accordingly, once that mask is combined with the received data stream and so indicated by the favorable outcome of an error control code check, the original encoded input as well as the specified piece of information are recreated and produced.

L'Invention concerne un procédé et un appareil destinés à combiner les informations provenant de deux sources et à séparer les informations combinées aprés une transmission via un même canal physique. Un masque représentant une information définie telle qu'une instruction de gestion ou l'état logique d'une entrée subit une comparaison OU exclusif par rapport à un signal d'entrée codé, ce qui provoque une violation de code de contrôle d'erreur. A l'extrémité réception du système, chaque ensemble de masques subit une comparaison OU exclusif par rapport au train de données reçu. L'un des masques est identique au masque combiné initialement avec le signal d'entrée codé. Il en résult qu'une fois le masque combiné avec le train de données reçu et ainsi repéré par la détection par code de contrôle d'erreur, on arrive à recréer et produire l'entrée codée d'origine ainsi que l'information définie.
