A method of manufacturing multi-ply tubular containers for food products is provided including the steps of advancing a continuous body ply formed of paperboard towards a shaping mandrel and advancing a continuous polymeric liner ply adjacent to one surface of the paperboard body ply. The polymeric liner ply includes a moisture barrier layer and an adhesive layer defining one surface of the liner ply, wherein the adhesive layer includes a polymeric adhesive which is activated at a predetermined activation temperature. The body ply is heated to a temperature above the activation temperature of the adhesive, and the body ply and the liner ply are then passed in face-to-face contact through a nip to adhere the liner ply to the body ply. The body ply and liner ply are then wrapped around a shaping mandrel to create the tubular container. Accordingly, an advantageous tubular container can be manufactured having an unsupported and polymeric liner ply which is adhered to a body ply without the application of any separate adhesives.
Méthode de fabrication de contenants tubulaires multicouches pour produits alimentaires. La méthode consiste à faire avancer une feuille support continue constituée de carton vers un mandrin et à faire avancer une doublure polymère continue à proximité de l'une des surfaces de la feuille support. La doublure polymère comporte un revêtement étanche et une couche de matière adhésive constituant une surface de la doublure, la couche adhésive comportant une substance adhésive polymère qui est activée à une température prédéterminée. La feuille support est chauffée à une température supérieure à la température d'activation de la substance adhésive, et la feuille support et la doublure sont ensuite placées face à face et passées dans des cylindres presseurs pour faire adhérer la doublure à la feuille support. La feuille support et la doublure sont ensuite enroulées autour du mandrin pour former un contenant tubulaire. La méthode proposée permet de fabriquer un contenant tubulaire comportant une doublure polymère sans support qui adhère à la feuille support sans qu'il soit nécessaire d'appliquer d'autres substances adhésives.
